Hermès Cuirs Précieux
Hermès Cuirs Précieux is a subsidiary of Hermes, A french Company active in the manufacture of luxury products. The company is committed to reduce its carbon and environmental footprint by investigating energy efficiency and process integration options for the leader production process.
Description of the work
The company is proposing a one year project with
- a semester project in EPFL followed by
- an internship that will be a master thesis in entreprise (PDMe)
The goal will be to apply process analysis and process integration techniques to
- characterize the process needs
- identify energy saving options
- define the energy resources and its conversion, including the use of heatpumps and or the use of biomass as a resource
- investigate carbon mitigation option including carbon capture options
- investigate the water-energy-waste nexus reducing the energy consumption the water usage and the environmental impact.
The semester project will concern the problem statement, the state of the art and a preliminary process integration analysis The PDMe will concern the data collection on site, the analysis of the data and the generation of the decarbonisation options for the process.
Location
- Semester 1: In EPFL with a collaboration in the IPESE lab in Sion
- Semester 2: Location on the industrial site : Le Puy en Velay, France
