Semester/Master project in collaboration with heavy industry companies
Objectives
The goal is to study decarbonization potential of using reversible solid oxide cells and supercritical CO2 cycles for a greener heavy industry
Profile
- Interest in renewable energy conversion systems and energy integration methods.
- Knowledge on energy systems engineering, waste heat recovery and techno-economic analysis.
- Some knowledge on Python and Lua is desirable.
Project plan
The study includes:
- Understand and leverage existing detailed models of rSOC and sCO2 technologies.
- Evaluate the performance of the rSOC and sCO2 systems integrated to industrial applications.
- Simulate seasonal fuel and heat storage for an enhanced system efficiency.
- Estimate the cost of energy-efficient solutions in three industrial sectors.
- Knowledge transfer between researchers and industry.
Observation
The project is related to the Net Zero Valais and other heavy industries.
